Botswana for Condé Nast Traveller
After a break from shooting for Condé Nast Traveller (Covid, having a baby etc) it was such an honour to be sent on this trip to the Okavango Delta in Botswana with writer Alex Postman in September 2023.
The Okavanga Delta is a huge inland river delta that carries millions of cubic meters of water through land-locked Botswana before eventually disappearing underground. Thousands of years ago it emptied into a huge lake which sat where the Kalahari desert is now to be found, a result of shifting tectonic plates.
The effect of the water is enormous as every season it creates a huge flooded wetlands dotted with islands and full of wild and wonderful creatures. Elephants roam in their thousands, zebra, lions, leopards, giraffe, buffalo and almost every great African icon you can think of all flock to the delta to savour the waters.
